Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
L.A.P. Learning & Behavior Inc. ("L.A.P.," "we," "us"), 14247 SW 158 Path, Miami, FL 33196, provides ABA therapy and related services. This policy explains how we handle information collected through lapbehavior.us and in the course of providing services. Protected health information of clients is also governed by our separate HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, which we provide at intake and on request.
Information we collect
- Website inquiries: parent or guardian name, email, phone, child's age, language preference, topic, and your message.
- Client information: child and family information, diagnostic and medical records, assessment results, treatment plans, session notes, and progress data.
- Insurance and billing information: policy details, authorizations, claims, and payment records.
- Technical data: basic server logs (IP address, browser type) for security. The intake checklist stores your ticks only in your own browser and sends nothing to us.
We do not use advertising trackers on this website. Please do not submit diagnoses or medical details through the website form.
How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and schedule intake;
- To provide assessment, therapy, and caregiver training;
- To verify benefits, request authorizations, and bill insurers or families;
- To coordinate care with other providers or schools when you authorize it;
- To handle concerns and complaints, and to comply with legal obligations.
Sharing
We don't sell personal information. Health information is used and disclosed only as permitted by HIPAA and Florida law — for treatment, payment, and health care operations, with your written authorization, or as required by law (including mandatory child abuse reporting). Service providers who handle health information on our behalf sign business associate agreements.
Retention
Clinical records are kept for at least the period required by law and professional standards, and for minors generally until well after the child reaches adulthood, then securely destroyed. Website inquiries that don't become clients are deleted within 24 months.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including access controls and encrypted systems for clinical data. Email is not fully secure; we'll provide a secure way to share records.
Your rights
Parents and legal guardians may request access to or copies of their child's records, request corrections, and request an accounting of certain disclosures as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices. Contact support@lapbehavior.us.
Children
Our services are for children, but this website is intended for parents, guardians, and professionals. We don't knowingly collect information online directly from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the effective date when we do.
